Want to Learn to Make Crate Seats for Your Home or Classroom?
Step 1
- Go get those materials!
Materials and Stores:
- Plywood at Home Depot or Lowes
- Home Depot will cut the wood for you. 2 cuts free and then $0.50 a cut after that.
- Tip: Bring a crate with you! I had the home depot worker make sure the cut was correct.
- Fabric at JoAnn Fabrics, Walmart or anywhere you would like to get fabric.
- Foam- 1 inch or 2 inch at JoAnn Fabrics
- Staple gun
- Sander
- Fabric Scissors
- Crates (I use the Walmart Sterilite ones)
Step 2
- Sand the wood and make sure each piece fits perfectly in your crate.
- Cut the foam to the correct size
- Cut the fabric to the correct size (bigger than the wood)
- Make sure you have enough room to put the fabric on the wood.
Step 3
- Wrap the fabric over the board and use a staple gun to staple the sides.
- You can choose to wrap the whole thing with fabric or staple close to the sides (personal preference)
- Tip: Don’t forget the handles!
Step 4
- Measure and make sure your crate seat fits in your crate!
