Making Crate Seats 101

Want to Learn to Make Crate Seats for Your Home or Classroom?

Step 1

  • Go get those materials!

Materials and Stores:

  1. Plywood at Home Depot or Lowes
    • Home Depot will cut the wood for you. 2 cuts free and then $0.50 a cut after that.
    • Tip: Bring a crate with you! I had the home depot worker make sure the cut was correct.
  2. Fabric at JoAnn Fabrics, Walmart or anywhere you would like to get fabric.
  3. Foam- 1 inch or 2 inch at JoAnn Fabrics
  4. Staple gun
  5. Sander
  6. Fabric Scissors
  7. Crates (I use the Walmart Sterilite ones)

Step 2

  • Sand the wood and make sure each piece fits perfectly in your crate.
  • Cut the foam to the correct size
  • Cut the fabric to the correct size (bigger than the wood)
    • Make sure you have enough room to put the fabric on the wood.
