Write the Room in Kindergarten
Write the room ✏️ is one of my students favorite activities! It gets them out of their seat moving around and they feel like it’s a scavenger hunt. As a teacher, I love it because they are practicing writing and having fun at the same time.
I’ve used write the room during centers, as a whole group activity and as an “I’m done now what?” activity.
How Write the Room Works?
- Print out the picture cards and place them around the room.
- Print out the recording sheets for the students.
- Get those clipboards ready!
- Students get to walk around the room, find the words and write down how to spell the word.
Why is Write the Room Beneficial?
✏️ Students can practice their handwriting.
✏️ Students can walk around the stimulate their brain while moving.
✏️ Students learn vocabulary.
✏️ Fine motor skills are increasing as they are writing standing up and balancing their clipboards.
